THE COMING CONVERGENCE

I recently watched a new documentary just released by Ingenuity Films (in partnership with Prophecy News Watch) called The Coming Convergence. It cleverly portrays a future reality of the approaching apocalypse (or the tribulation period that Revelation talks about). It follows the story of a young girl that is living through the end of days. Her words of warning are a wakeup call to the horrors mankind will soon face.

The theme of this doco is that what Jesus said in Matthew 24 is actually coming to pass right now. In this passage. In answer to the disciple question: "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" he answered with a list of events:

1. There will be many false prophets
2. Wars and rumours of wars
3. Famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places
4. Lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 
   
   

Then in Matthew 24:33, Jesus says: “So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near - at the doors!”

The proposition The Coming Convergence makes is that we are seeing all things happen at the same time now in addition to the fulfilment of the many prophecies that predicted the return of the Jews to their own homeland (after 2000 years of being dispersed) which became a reality in 1948.

To be honest I was expecting the documentary to go past just warning that a giant conflagration is about to happen (don’t many of us expect that anyway) and show us (from scripture) what will happen during the tribulation period... and then portray the glorious second coming of Christ.

The producers seem to have been too caught up with trying to prove that we are in the end times just before the tribulation starts (doh! pretty darn obvious) rather than showing the wonderful news that those in Christ (who are overcomers) will one day rule and reign with the Kings of Kings. And it should have clearly warned those who don’t follow Christ that their end destination is not a very pleasant place. In fact Jesus says in Matthew 24:51 “...There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
